TASK 3-WWW LESSON PLAN

Dora The Explore of Article

Level: Form 1 (intermediate)

Time: 80 minutes

Aims:

To make students used to internet surfing as a source of information and guidance; to teach and practice Articles like ‘the’ and ‘a’ based on DORA THE EXPLORER’s page; to introduce and practice the skill of presentation associated with colour, shape, price and etc.

Technical requirement:

One computer per group of 3-4 students with an Internet Connection and a Web Browser; printer

Preparation:

1. Locate sites on cartoon characters
2. Choose Dora The Explorer as the main resource for the day
3. Based on the information from that particular page, prepare group task (presentation)
   and worksheet
   

Procedure:

Set induction (5 minutes)

1. Ask the students about their favourite cartoon characters and tell the class the reasons for the liking.
2. Then, the teacher will choose only one character which is Dora The Explorer and ask the students whether they are familiar with this cartoon or not.
3. After that, the teacher will require the students to explain or describe anything about Dora so that those who have not heard of this cartoon character can get the gist of the story.

Pre - activity (7 minutes)

1. Next, the teacher will lead the students to the particular website on Dora The Explorer and explain the use of Articles that describe the pictures in that page.
2. The teacher then distributes notes on Article in order for the students to get the clear idea about it thus they can refer back to it whenever they are demanded to do so.
   

While- activity (20 minutes)

1. When the teacher has finished explaining, the students are asked to look carefully at the page in the computer and create an advertisement in their groups to promote Dora The Explorer’s items like bags, sleepwear, stickers, hat, gloves and etc in the form of flyers.
2. They need to put more interesting attractions like discount and free gift.
3. The teacher will distribute coloured papers for the students to create their advertisement but the students do not need to draw the items that they want to promote but they just need to print the pictures from the internet by using the available printer and paste it on the given papers.
   

Post-activity (45 minutes)

1. After the students have done creating the advertisement, they need to come in front and promote the items that they want to sell. At the same time, they have to describe all the pictures, features, price, colours that they have put in their advertisement by using the appropriate Articles.
2. The teacher will choose the best advertisement and also the best promoter on that day and give a little token to them.
   

Follow-up activity (3 minutes)

1. As the follow up activity, the teacher will distribute exercises regarding Article to be done at home and discuss them in the next class.
